This first compilation begins the musical journey of seven Plymouth musicians, who have regularly collaborated to compose, record and perform contemporary music for over four decades. Many of the bands featured here were local heroes in their day with loyal fans who packed city venues whenever they performed. Some of the bands that were formed gained recognition from the music industry and were awarded recording contracts which enabled them to professionally experience a rock 'n' roll lifestyle and rub shoulders with and support major artists of the day.

Alan Hodgson (Toots Earl) - vocals, songwriter
Terry Ball - vocals, songwriter, guitar, mandolin
Dave Ahern - vocals, songwriter, guitar, flute, violin
Ley Perryman - lyricist, drums
John Morrissey - vocals, songwriter, harmonica
Paul Arscott - vocals, songwriter, saxophone, guitar, harmonica
Mike Weston - vocalist, songwriter, guitar

These musicians have entertained audiences for four decades, and still write original material, which has yet to be recorded. Not manufactured overnight, this sustained output from a dedicated group of musicians who have learned that music is its own reward has carved a permanent niche in Plymouth's musical heritage.
