With the release of their debut single a fading memory and the rejection of their album resulting in a major split in personnel, the remaining members of Clown financed this recording session themselves in a desperate effort to curry favour with their recording company.
John Morrissey was recruited as a replacement for Alan Hodgson, their disillusioned lead singer, who had been the latest casualty in the impasse with the company. Dave Ahern now became the main songwriter, and his background of folk and country blues came to the fore on this, their last recorded session.
The recording still couldn't persuade the company to reinvest in the band. So, contracted to a company who wouldn't use them, and unable to buy their freedom, Clown finally disbanded a week later and went their separate ways.
