Track Notes

Alpha - "What kind of music do you play?" The question all musos are asked sooner or later. We usually want to answer this by saying, "A good kind!", but if you must try and categorise us we will probably end up in the (dreaded?) folk/rock idiom for want of any closer genre . . . . . . at the end of this CD I hope you will agree there is a lot more to it than that, but if you are inclined to folk music this track goes back a very long way to Celtic roots.

Today - We tried for a contemporary feel on this one, courtesy of a great song by Iona, reworked in the bass.

Morrissins Jig - Bit of trad. before we crank it up again.

I Look Upon - Life is precious and short, don't waste it. I think it sounds like we meant it.

Angels - The first of two tunes on this CD written by Steve and one of his mates, Simon Clements. More laid back than the preceding blast with Steve getting to stretch outon the strat.

Keep Running - One of my favourites, a song based on some very old observations, written during a band practice and featuring simultaneous sax and guitar solos, which aside from being a bit unusual, works really well.

High Flyer - "High flyer burn out" you don't have to be a pop or sports superstar to relate to this. In our increasingly manic world so many of us seem to miss the point.

Picking Up The Pieces - Man meets woman . . . . . . but there's more to a relationship than a one night stand.

Take These Chains - The second of the Steve/Simon tunes, first performed by a scratch band to a full house at Plymouth Pavilions and became a standard "rocker" in our live set. The rhythm section sneaked in some funkiness at the end.

There's A Place - Dedicated to Vicki's mum and dad, Margaret and Ted. There's going to be a big party when we all get together again. Ballad, folk and jazz all in one song . . . ah! That would be "Till The Spring".

Earth - Nigel's mandolin dexterity is well to the front in this one. Don't mess up His work please.

Omega - Almost time for us to wrap up. Thanks for listening, we enjoyed it and hope you do too.
